L'Estartit



L'Estartit, which belongs to Torroella de Montgrí, is one of the most prestigious tourist centre, that emphasize overall for its natural surroundings.
The most interesting places to visit, have a natural beauty, and it's mainly based in its views to the bay, in the Island Medes and the whole environment.
Its different landscapes, turn the village into a point of departure of constant discoveries, through itineraries, in which we ‘ll find a rich natural and historical heritage, that let us go for walks, go on horseback or go by bicycle, cultural tours
and the option to enjoy a big variety of activities at any time of the year.

L'Estartit is located between the massif “Macizo de Montgrí” and the mouth of the river Ter. We'll go on an excursion to the Massif, which separate the Baix Emporda from the Alt Emporda, and has 3 mountains: M. De Ullà; M. De Montgrí y Mont Pla.
We could see a lot of interesting places, mainly the Castle of Montgrí (XIII Ch). We also visit the hermitage “Ermita de Sta. Caterina” (dated in the XVIII Ch), for which the inhabitants do each 25th November a reunion; or other historical monuments, in ruins, like the “Ermita de Sta. Maria de Palau”, or other different chapels.
Once we had enjoyed the visit, we propose a short trip to the Island “Islas Medes”, located in front of the beach of l' Estartit, where we'll arrive through a nice trip by boat (about 10 minutes way). They are a marine fauna and flora reserve, considered one of the most important of the Western Mediterranean, and now they are almost the only one declared protected area.
It consists of 7 islets, with a big biological and ecological value.

The scuba-diving-lover will discover one of the best places where practise this sport in the best conditions, and discover, at the same time, the beauty of the marine environment , with a big variety of species, where stands out overall, the coral.

We will know a little bit the beaches of L'Estartit. In the centre of the village, we find the beach “playa del Molinet”, a rocky beach with crystal-clear water, where we only can arrive on foot. Following the way to the South, we find the harbour, with the fishing boats, diving schools… and the option to go to the Island Medes, by boat with the bottom of glass, to observe, meanwhile, the ocean bed.

Right then, starts the sandy beach of L'Estartit, with about 5km long, little deep, ideal for children, where are located the bars, restaurants and shops, to could have a good time of entertainment.
If we walk toward Pals, we ‘ll arrive to the mouth of the river Ter, totally a natural place.
