St. Feliu de Guíxols
St. Feliu de Guixols is a village of about 18.000 inhabitants, completely Mediterranean, situated in the heart of the Costa Brava. It's a good choice for the one that looks for days of rest in any time.
It invites the visitor, by its pleasant climate and its landscape, to contemplate its wonderful places.
If we can suggest the best day to visit it, that could be on Sunday, and we can start the visit in the Promenade, where we could enjoy, while we go for a pleasing walk, the market on the street, which allows each Sunday its inhabitants and visitors to buy some
typical products of the village, and enjoy at the same time the atmosphere that this represents. We can, in the same area, discover more places of great value, like the building of architectural and artistic value of 1.889, Casino dels Nois, the monument to Juli Garreta (musician and composer of St. Feliu de Guixols), and Casa Patxot. We will pass through the Market square, old centre of the medieval city, where we'll find the building of the covered Market and the City Hall.
We suggest to walk along the centre of the activity of the village, La Nova Rambla, where we'll have the opportunity to know the way of life of the city.
St. Feliu keeps a rich historical patrimony, with the architectonical group of El Monestir, head office of the cultural centre (with the Porta Ferrada and the towers: Torre del Corn and Torre del Fum), and the chapel of Sant Elm, located on the old hill Castellar, where we have to go to observe, from its viewpoint, the best sight of the village and of the bay.
We can't leave St. Feliu, if we haven't gone to its Camino de Ronda, on foot or in bicycle, where we will enjoy the scenery of cliffs, coves and beaches that surround it, which make of this village full of contrasts and alive nature, the best option to spend a good holidays, in summer or in winter.
That's why long time ago, the journalist Ferran Agulló baptized these places as Costa Brava.
