Roses

Roses, located in the North of the Costa Brava, is a modern village full of charms, with a lot of culture, a big marine tradition, anda lot of new sensations to discover.
We will be delighted with the hospitality of its historical legacy and its tourist, sporting and gastronomic offer.
This village offers to the visitor different options and activities. It depends on what the visitor is looking for: tranquility, having a bath in a lovely beach; or more activity, discovering the history and the heritage, going for a walk through the surroundings, hiking or doing nautical sports.

To could know a bit more Roses, we'll visit the village, their beaches and surroundings, starting with the Citadel , essential for anyone who goes there. It is a military fortification, declared a historical-artistic complex in 1.961. Inside it, we'll find the remains of the Greek Town of Rhode. We can also go for a walk to the Harbour and to the Seafront Promenade , where, apart from the landscape, we'll enjoy the activity of the restaurants and terraces that form part of it.
Below, we'll see the lighthouse (Far de Roses), built in 1.864, and, after walking for a time, we'll arrive to the beach of Canyelles Petites, with sandy and golden sand, of clean and crystal-clear water.
Near here, there're the Trinity Castle (Castell de la Trinitat), military construction, which dates from 1.544.
Higher up, we access to the viewpoint of Puig Rom, from where we ‘ll have the pleasure to observe the most unexpected views of the bay of Roses.

We'd see, in the same visit, the remains of the Visigothic Fortress, a fortress dating from the VII Ch.
We have another option to discover the nature of the village. Is going through the “Camino de Ronda”, inside the Natural Park of Cap de Creus, where we'll see a natural landscape of big beauty, full of archipelagos, coves and little coves.
One of the most interesting places of the path is the Norfeu Cape, natural reserve with an indisputable elegance, located between the beach of Cala Pelosa and the beach of Canadell.
We emphasize, amongst other features of interest, the Cave of Les Ermites and other sub-aquatic caves; the Tower of Norfeu, half demolished…

Among the historical monuments that have importance in the village, you should see the Parish Church of Santa Maria (1796); the Mallol House, located in the Plaça de Catalunya, modernist building built in 1.906, is now the Town Council.
We emphasize that Roses has one of the most impressive megalithic itineraries, worth seeing, with 3 big dolmens: “La Creu d'en Cobertella” (the biggest one in Catalunya), “Llit de la Generala” and the “Cap de l'Home”.
Moreover, there are 2 menhirs (Menhirs de la Casa Cremada): “La Cista de la Casa Cremada” and “La Cueva-dolmen del Rec de la Cuana”.
