Port de la Selva, belongs to the Alt Emporda, and it's located in the north of the Costa Brava. It has 870 inhabitants.
Its township includes the villages of Selva de Mar and Vall de Santa Creu.
In its surrounding we'll find landscapes where there are combined the blue of the Mediterranean, the green of the vineyard and mountains with peaks of outstanding high.
The tranquillity of the village and its beauty, transform Port de la Selva in a village worth seeing. We'll start visiting its beaches, each one with an own personality:
- “La Erola”, is a beach of stones, with just a few tourists, but usually full of fishermen and divers.
- The beach of “la Ribera”, or also called “del Poble”, is a full equipped beach, where people do different sports related to the wind.
- The beach of “Sota”, is a simple beach, not so attractive.
- “El Pas”, is an excellent beach, awarded to the Blue Flag, with a high occupied level.
- The nudist beach of “La Tamariua”, is located between two mountains, isolated of any building.
- “La Taballera”, is a cove with a difficult access, isolated and with not so much visits.
We'll go then to the Cap de Creus, surrounded with sea, border on “Plana Empordanesa”. It formed the Serra de Rodes. Here, we can find a lot of monuments and grassy Mediterranean fields and masses of woods with lots of birds, mammals. ..
But the charm of the environment is under the crystal-clear waters, the exceptional fauna and flora, overall the red coral.
If we come out of the municipality Port de la Selva, we can go to Sant Pere de Rodes, located in the Serra de Verdera. Is the Romanesque ensemble most important of Catalonia, because of its architectural importance and its privileged situation, from where we can observe the Cap de Creus and the Gulf of Lleo.
