Figueres

Figueres, of medieval origin, is located in Alt Emporda, with 33.905 inhabitants, and offers to its visitors a lot of options to enjoy a good day.
In the centre of the city, we'll find one of the best places that it offers us: La Rambla.
We'll start our visit here, where we can see the new centrist monument of the sculptor Enric Casanovas, dedicated to Narcis Monturiol (inventor of the Ictineu, first submarine ship), and also the Casa Polideseia (1864) of the architect Joan Roca i Bros. To finish the visit, we'll go to the “Museu de la Joguina de Catalunya”
(Toy's museum), where there're more than 400 pieces that make us revive with nostalgia the childhood of our grandparents, and the museum of Emporda, that shows the art and archaeology of our region since the prehistory until today, with a special dedication to the Catalan painting.
We'll follow our way until arrive to the Josep Pla Square. In the centre, there's the monument of Josep Ministral, dedicated to Josep Pla (well-known writer).
We go then to the street Forn Nou, until the street Carrer Nou and to the square Plaza Ernest Vila.
We'll arrive to the Gra Square, characterized by its structure, simple but effective. It was built to protect the market of cereals from the bad weather. If it's Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday, we'll find the market, where we can by typical products of the area.
We'll go to the Monturiol Street until arrive to the house where, the 11th May 1904, was born the painter Salvador Dalí.
The best place to visit in Figueres is the Theatre-Museum Dalí, located in The Gala and Salvador Dali Square, with a lot of his works. Next to it, there's the Church Sant Pere (1.020). The oldest part of the city is formed by the “Call Jueu” (with the streets Magre and Llauna Square).
From this point, after seeing the castle, we'll come back to the Rambla, where we'll finish our visit.
