Empuriabrava

Empuriabrava , also known as the “Catalan Venice”, is a holiday city which offers to the visitor a lot of services and activities.
It belongs to Castelló de Empúries. The village of Castelló de Empúries still maintains its old part of the city “Casco Antiguo”, with its narrow streets, vestige of its medieval past.
Taking for a walk through this area, is like going back to the history. We emphasize the “Muralla” (the wall) and the “Portal de la Gallarda” (of the 11rst-,14th Century), The Church of Santa María, The Convent of San Doménech (14th Century), The Convent of Sta. Clara (13rd-17th Century), The Old Bridge, the museum of the Prison, and the Ecomuseum Farinera.
Furthermore, in the surroundings of Empuriabrava, we can find interesting natural places like the park of “Aiguamolls del Empordà”.
The area had a big increase with the arrival of the tourism, when Empuriabrava arised.
In the 1967 an architect had the idea to transform the cultivation land that belonged to 5 owners in a holiday resort.
Now, it's the biggest seaport of Europe; with an only design, it has more than 30 km of navigable canals, surrounded with nice houses.
You can access to the area by sea, air or earth, so it has an aerodrome and 5.000 hawsers.
Empuriabrava has more than 7 km of beaches. 2km of them are in the coastal region. It's the best place for lovers of the nautical sports. There's where currently takes place the most important second hand boat's market of Spain.
This city also offers all kind of services, activities and modern infrastructures: Tennis clubs, aerodrome, excursions…
We don't have to forget its ludic offer, overall in the area of Los Arcos, and a lot of discos which turn this city into an important nightlife centre.
