Calella de Palafrugell

Calella de Palafrugell, typical village of the Costa Brava, previously refuge of fishermen, belongs to Palafrugell, area of Baix Empordà.
Its surrounding, with cliffs, beautiful coves, transparent waters and abundant vegetation, turn it into one of the best places of the Catalan coast.
That's why we suggest to go there and observe the village and the beauty of its landscape.
We can find marks of its history with a visit to the Church of St. Pere de Calella (1.884 – 1.885), or the Tower of Calella, defence tower, built in the 16th Century, which currently is a hotel;
or the building Sa Perola (19th Century), where there is now the Tourism Office.
If we go to the South of Calella, to the area of Golfet, we'll have the opportunity to admire the Mediterranean vegetation, in the “Jardín Botánico de Cap Roig” (Botanical Garden), from where we'll look at a wonderful view to the coast that goes from Calella to the Cliffs of Cap Roig. We ‘ll dedicate a bit of our time to walk through the Promenade, which has charm thanks to the fisherman's houses that long ago used the beach like a natural harbour, and there we can drink a soda enjoying at the same time the pleasant sea breeze; and, if it's July, we'll be witness of one of the most important shows in the Costa Brava, the Habanera's Chant, that, since 1.967, takes place there, each first Saturday of this month.
One of the images that describes Calella, and we can't forget, is the famous “Les Voltes”, in front of the beaches: Port Bo and Calau.
We can finish the itinerary with a walk on foot through the “Camino de Ronda”, that goes from Calella to Llafranc, and from Sant Roc to the Golfet, skirting the sea, the best way to discover and enjoy the landscape of beaches that surround the lovely village of Calella de Palafrugell.
