Cadaqués

Cadaqués is a nice village with 1550 inhabitants which belongs to L'Alt Emporda. Is the easternest point of the Costa Brava.
In 1972, it was declarated Picturesque Landscape because of its white houses, with flowers and nice halls, that praise its visitors.
If there's a monument that we can't forget to visit, is the Church of Santa Maria. It's in the highest point of the old part of the village, and gives to Cadaques this characteristic silhouette. It's from the 16th Century, and has a baroque altar, restored in 1994. Any day is good to visit the Art museum Perrot-Moore, inaugurated in 1978, and includes the
most important collections of the illustrated world, with works of Duero, Goya, Picasso, Matisse and others.
We could continue our itinerary visiting the historical maritime shelter, the harbour of Cadaques.
We'll also see the house where Salvador Dali (painter and favourite son of Cadaques) lived for a long time during his childhood and youth. We'll follow the visit with the village of Portlligat, located in a deep bay closed by the island of Portlligat and the beach of Sant Antoni.
Back to Cadaques, we'll go to the square Ses Herbes, currently known as the Rahola Square, where it was scene of festive ceremonies, celebrated in the village.
We'll go to Sa Plaça, too, named “Plaza del General Escofet”, son of Cadaques, soldier of the Spanish army, who gave donations for the children's education and for the construction of the “Capella Fonda de l'Esglesia”. In the centre of the square, there's a
“rosa dels vents”, made of stone by the artist Emili Caminada.
Es Portal, is one of the places that we have to visit. It was the access to the village, previously. Currently is the Dr. Tremols Square.
We'll finish the route going to the “Call Jueu”, where is the place of marketing of craft products.
